Reflection: Exploring the World of HTML Tags in ICT Class

Throughout this quarter in our ICT class, we've been learning about HTML tags and their significance in web development. As a high school student, I learned an abundance of knowledge and insights that helped me better comprehend how websites are built and the function HTML tags play in the process.

HTML tags are the building blocks of websites. They establish the structure and elements of a webpage, including headings, paragraphs, images, links, and more. HTML tags are enclosed in angle brackets (<>) and consist of a tag name, start and end tags (e.g., content). Each tag has a distinct purpose and is important in defining how content is presented on a website.

Furthermore, HTML tags are necessary for web development since they structure and define the content. We can use appropriate tags to organize information, make headings, format text, include photos and videos, and even incorporate interactive features such as forms and multimedia. HTML tags make webpages accessible, searchable, and user-friendly. They help search engines interpret the text, give visually challenged users screen readers, and make it easier for developers to style and alter elements.

I've come to understand the importance of having clear, well-structured HTML code. Proper indentation, consistent naming conventions, and following best practices all contribute to making our code easier to read and maintainable. This emphasis on clean coding practices aligns with industry standards and promotes collaboration among developers working on the same project. Furthermore, I have received practical experience using a variety of HTML tags to create dynamic and visually appealing web pages. I learned how to use different tags to create certain functionality within a website, such as using <a> tags for hyperlinks and incorporating <iframe> tags to incorporate external information. <b></b> makes the text darker, <i></i> italicizes words, and <u></u> underlines them. To insert a single line break, use stand-alone tags such as <br>. The practical practice of designing web pages has helped me solidify my understanding of HTML tags.

In conclusion, the HTML tag studies in this quarter's ICT class have given me a solid basis for learning the key components of web construction. I've come to understand the importance of semantic HTML, clean coding methods, and the practical application of HTML tags in producing effective and well-organized websites. Moving forward, I am excited to increase my knowledge of web programming and apply these talents to real-world projects.

By thinking on what I've learnt, I'm convinced that it will act as a foundation for my future aspirations in ICT and web development.
